Hall Bath Vanity

Back during Christmas Break before I had my tonsils out I had the brilliant idea to paint the vanity in the hall bath.

I must explain that this poor vanity has been through a lot.

To begin, I decided I wanted to raise the height of the vanities in the bathrooms, so we bought this one unfinished and my mother took it home to paint it.

Then her house burned with the vanity in the garage. Luckily it wasn’t damaged by the fire but smelled a bit like smoke so she left it outside to get rid of the smell. As anyone can guess it got rain on. Again luckily only the drawers got warped, but we got new ones.

Then it made it to my house and we tried to spray-paint it with some spray-paint lacquer that covers old furniture very nicely. However, it doesn’t cover well if the furniture is raw wood. But we had it installed this way because the guy was here.

Fast-forward about two years and I decided to finally finish it and paint it a light color. After the first layer of white primer I remembered why we painted it black. When it was light you could see every flaw…. And there were quite a few…

So after recovering from having my tonsil out … I painted it black again… at least this time it looked better and finished.

I had some green and brass doorknobs I salvaged from my mom’s house remodel and after I cleaned them they looked pretty good on the vanity. I still need to find drawer pulls, but for now I call it finished.
