St. Augustine

5/26/15 6:10 PM
As I type, Vince is driving us home from our trip to the “beach.” I put beach in quotes because we only spent 30 minutes at the beach. We went to St. Augustine, Florida to visit friends and we ending up exploring the town more than the beach, which was fine as neither of us are beach people.

The trip started out as a nice road trip through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia then Florida. Unfortunately about halfway the “Service Engine Soon” light came on… it never comes on. Then we had trouble accelerating from a stop.  Thankfully we made it to St. Augustine safely. The next day we woke up early and took it to the Nissan place in St. Augustine and after two hours waiting they told us we needed a new radiator and transmission… with cheaper parts it would still run us over $6000. In case you wondered the car is a 2005 and only worth about $3000-4000. So we rented a car to sightsee and prayed ours would get us home. We are about 4 hours from home as I’m typing and I'm still praying we get home.

Once we had the rental we ignored our car so as not to ruin our trip. We visited the Alligator Farm (and the Crocodile Crossing), the Florida Agricultural Museum, and downtown St. Augustine and the historic district. The Alligator Farm (and the Crocodile Crossing) and the Florida Agricultural Museum both deserve their own post (and they will get them). The rest of the town was so pretty and so old. There was so much to do and so little time! We will have to go visit again. If we go again we will have to go to the Fountain of Youth and the Pirate Ship.

But for now we are heading home, and I am glad to be heading back. I need rest from my vacation! So far the drive hasn’t been too bad (except the rain) and Vince is driving and singing so that makes it so much better.

Yay, we arrived safely home. The bags are unpacked and laundry has been started… now its time to rest.
