Because this week wasn’t
already sad enough with the stray dog, now we are caring for a beloved pet in
her final days.
Wednesday night I notice
George, our 5 year old female ferret, was acting odd. I took her out of the
cage and she just curled up in my arms, she is normally very feisty so I knew
this was not good. She had been fine earlier that day.
In an attempt to get
her back to herself I gave her a bath. She hates baths and they normally get a
reaction from her, but this one didn’t. After that she had trouble walking and couldn’t
move her hind legs.
I have ideas of what
is wrong with her but we still aren’t sure. Since Wednesday she has not eaten
and the only water she gets is when I move her to the water so she can drink.
The outcome does not
look good and I am trying to come to terms with this, but its hard to imagine
her not being here.
For now I’ve tried to
make her comfortable in a laundry basket, so I can carry her around the house
with me and she seems to like spending the time with me.
