Leaves Sweater and Bonnet Set

I finished knitting the sweater and bonnet I was making for a baby shower gift. It was perfect timing, the next day I was going up to Memphis so I will be able to get the buttons and ribbons to add the finishing touches before the baby shower.

I went  to see if I could find ribbons and buttons here at Walmart and of course they had a terrible selection that would have ruined the sweater.

For the sweater I  used the Autumn Leaves pattern by Nikki Van De Car.

The one change I made to the pattern was around the sleeves and bottom I added holes (using yarn-over, purl 2 together) so I have somewhere to thread the ribbons.

(Above Left: bottom hem of sweater, Above Center: Bonnet, Above Right: sleeve of sweater)

For the Bonnet I used the Cozy Baby Coif/Prairie Bonnet pattern by Dywalgi.
I changed the pattern a bit, I used seed stitch instead of the color-work and did a stockinette cap instead of garter stitch, similar to what I did for the first bonnet I made (see Baby Bonnets.)  I also added holes (made using yarn-over) after the garter stitch band for the ribbon.

For both the sweater and bonnet I used Berroco Comfort Solids & Heathers in pink. Which I highly recommend! It is so soft and is washable! It was so easy to knit with and I am already planning more baby clothes out of this yarn!

Here is is with the added ribbon and buttons. Finished it just in time for baby shower!

It was a huge success at the shower, YAY!

A friend saw this and also wanted one for a baby gift. So here it is in a size bigger.
